It is with deepest sadness that I must inform all of you about tragic events lately in the news.
Patrick and Martha Creevey, parents of Gryffindor House students Colin and Dennis, were found dead this morning at their home in Brighton. I have been cautioned not to be too direct with this, however, it must be said that the Dark Mark -- You-Know-Who's symbol from decades ago -- was found over the house.
Colin and Dennis have been pulled from school by their aunt and uncle.
If you need to talk, please, don't hesitate to ask any professor here.

Students, it is with great pleasure that I announce The Fairy Kings as our visiting band tomorrow evening for our school dance.
A few notes on the dance. I expect everyone to behave themselves. I also hope you have your dancing shoes on and a date lined up.

Attention Hogwarts Students, may I take the time, briefly, to make an announcement?
As a way to encourage House Unity, Hogwarts will be hosting a dance.
4th years and above are invited to attend a dance this coming Friday evening. Dress robes are optional, however this is a semi-formal occasion. We are hard at work securing the evening's entertainment, which will be announced in a few days' time.
I hope that you take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. I am already looking forward to this Friday's dance.

Welcome, everyone, to another year at Hogwarts.
As you have already noticed, we have some changes here at Hogwarts this term. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Peter Pettigrew, who will be taking on several of Professor Sprout's Herbology classes, as she wishes to lighten her load (and who can blame her!).
Also, please welcome Nymphadora Tonks, formerly of the Holyhead Harpies and now your new Quidditch mistress. She will also be teaching one class focused on animagi and metamorphmagi to 7th years students and, perhaps, some others who have shown excellent promise. Please see me for more details.
Finally, our Head Boy, Roger Davies, has posted the prefects' rounds schedule for this term. If there is any concern, also, please see me.
I am confident this year will be another great year for us, and both myself and the Hogwarts staff is eager to make sure of it.
Oh, yes, Mr. Filch would like me to remind you that the list of banned items is posted both in the Great Hall and in the entrance hall. Please heed this list. Also, might I remind you that, as always, the Forbidden Forest is out of bounds for all students.
The Quidditch schedule for the term will be finalized later this week. For now, enjoy your supper and your friends.
